Bauhaus Movement's profile

Bauhaus Archiv Museum

Bauhaus was the most important movement in design, architecture and art of the 20th century. And Bauhaus continued to influence beyond its own era: Bauhaus lamps, the steel pipe chair by Marcel Breuer and even the Bauhaus wallpaper are seen as modern classics today. In a building designed by Walter Gropius, the father of the Bauhaus movement, the world-wide largest collection on the history of Bauhaus and all aspects of its style can be found.

The great halls of the museum present the Bauhaus Archive, comprising the largest collection of its kind with representative objects from all aspects of the movement: architecture, furniture, ceramics, #metal, photography, stage, and #works from the early days of the Bauhaus School and pieces by its famous teachers Walter Gropius, Johannes Itten, Paul Klee, Lyonel Feininger, Wassily Kandinsky, Josef Albers, Oskar Schlemmer, László Moholy-Nagy and Ludwig Mies van der Rohe.
